The grave of Wilhelmus van Kuijk

Wilhelmus van Kuijk died in 1942 in the Antonius Hospital in Utrecht. He was buried on the St. Barbara Catholic burial grounds. When in 1962 his second wife Anna Maria Woudenberg died she was placed with him in this grave.

I already found an old picture of his tombstone on Graftombe.nl. But when I was looking at the website of de St. Barbara burial ground I found a mention of his grave there. When calling the burial ground I learned that his grave still exists (Vak: A2 Rij: 024 Graf: 026). In 1942 the grave was bought for 80 years, so it runs untill 2022.

I visited it and took some pictures. It’s still in pretty good condition for a tombstone created from “Belgisch Hardsteen” and there are only minor cracks in the stone. The black paint of the lettering is washed away almost completely and it would be nice to re-paint the letters in black.

I’m in contact with the burial ground now about his grave and I’m going to visit their archive to see if documents from that time still exist in there.

Will post an update if I discover new documents or information.
